A Message from the Tech Department

                                                                                                                                    May 15, 2017
Dear Families,
It’s ExpoFest time!!
ESUMS will have seven teams competing against other CT schools.  Teams will set up their interactive exhibitions at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT to display and pitch their work to the public. Each project will be assessed by a panel of judges comprised of business professionals, higher-education faculty, and experts in the realms of science, technology and business.
Over 40 Connecticut high schools participating in Skills21 programs will be celebrating a year’s work of innovation, creativity, and imagination on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT. The Student Innovation ExpoFest is the culminating event for more than 2,000 middle and high school students engaged in cutting edge science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and digital arts and media education programs.
NO CHILD WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND EXPOFEST WITHOUT A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP.  Students that ride the bus in the morning must return to ESUMS on the bus.  If a student wishes to leave the Oakdale Theatre, the parent must sign the student out with their teacher so we can keep an accurate head count.
The schedule for EXPOFest is as follows:
6:30a    Students meet at ESUMS to board and load buses to Toyota Oakdale Theater
7:00a    Doors open at Oakdale
9:00a    Opening Ceremony - FAMILY & FRIENDS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!!
            Trade Floor open and Presentations
1:30p    The Big Pitch on Center Stage
2:00p    Awards Ceremony
3:00p    Buses leave
4:00p    Students return to ESUMS
Students must wear their team EXPO polo shirt in conjunction with the dress casual bottoms that will be determined by the individual groups and their teachers. Students should wear comfortable dress shoes (no sneakers) and be pressed and ready to shine.
Box lunches will be provided courtesy of Education Connection.  If students are interested, concession stand items will also be available for purchase.
Attending EXPOFest is free, so get out that spiritwear and come cheer on our students as they present their projects and compete against other CT schools.
Looking forward to seeing you at EXPOFest!!
