Important Final Reminder: The Class of 2017 application deadline for New Haven Promise and Passport To Promise is upon us. Students must have completed all requirements, including ensuring parent authorization if they are not 18 years old. Those applying for Passport must also have submitted a 300-word essay and information regarding their recommender by the deadline (Fri., Jan. 27, midnight). That deadline will not be extended.

Scholarship for African-American Seniors

PROGRAM BENEFITS INCLUDE:

Tiered tuition scholarships up to a total of $25,000

• $2,500—freshmen and sophomores academic years
• $5,000—juniors and seniors academic years
• An additional $5,000—fifth-year students
• A $5,000 internship stipend for a STEM-related project

Participation in:

• K-12 STEM Summer Institute (pre-college)
• UNCF Student Tech Empowerment Workshop

Career-development support:

• Mentoring, training and education
• Access to entrepreneurial training in launching new tech ventures through a competitive venture accelerator program.

Every year, thousands of free local $$$ go unclaimed because our students are not applying for the scholarships.  Please encourage your students to attend.

AN ACT SHIFTING THE BURDEN OF PROOF IN SPECIAL EDUCATION HEARINGS To shift the burden of proof to parents in special education hearings.
