ESUMS will host its 2nd Annual Mini Expo on Thursday,
April 2, 2015 in the gymnasium at 130B Leeder Hill Drive from 4:30pm
to 7pm. Three to five industry professionals will be assessing the student
groups for each content area, and the group with the highest aggregate score in
each category will move on to compete in the Connecticut Student Innovation
Exposition (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Entrepreneurship and 3D
Modeling).
Student
attendance for the Mini Expo is mandatory for all students currently enrolled in Chemistry, Biology,
Physics or any technology course, and the level of the students’ participation and
verbally displayed project knowledge will represent a significant portion of
their 3rd quarter grade. Students are expected to be present at 3:30pm
to set up their booths, and remain until 7:30pm to disassemble
their booths and clean up the exhibition space.
The 2015 theme is “Balance”. This year, the final five competing
teams will set up interactive exhibition spaces at the XL Center in
Hartford, CT to display and market their work to the public. Each project will
be assessed by a panel of judges comprised of business professionals,
higher-education faculty, and experts in the realm of science and technology.
Over 40 Connecticut high schools participating in Skills21
programs will be celebrating a year’s work of innovation, creativity, and
imagination on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the XL Center in Hartford, CT. The
Student Innovation Exposition is the culminating event for more than 2,000
middle and high school students engaged in cutting edge science, technology,
engineering, and math (STEM) and digital arts and media education programs.
