New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park!

· WHAT: Our 17th Annual Lead Education Picnic at Lighthouse Point Park. Free lunch & snacks.
§ Fun entertainment including a magician, dancing & Mad Science Show.
§ Learn about lead in our interactive “Dusty” the Dog lead exhibit & enjoy a fun learning experience with the New Haven Fire Department, CT State Police & American Medical Response.
§ Participate in free activities such as carousel rides, face-painting, balloon animals, potting flowers & plants & tie- dyeing t-shirts.

· WHY: Childhood lead poisoning remains a major environmental health issue in the United States.
§ An estimated half a million children between the ages of 1 & 5 are living with elevated blood lead levels.
§ Elevated levels of lead in developing children can cause damage to the nervous system & causes
developmental, behavioral & neurological disorders, all of which could be irreversible. The only way to know if a child has lead poisoning is to have them tested.
