Some Well-Deserved Boasting: 2013 Accomplishments & Goals


ESUMS IMAGINE, INVESTIGATE, INVENT
Engineering and Science University Magnet School, a public college preparatory middle and high school, challenges students to imagine, investigate and invent while preparing them for demanding STEM programs at the collegiate level.

ENGINEERING & SCIENCE UNIVERSITY MAGNET SCHOOL IS

        A response to the GLOBAL and NATIONAL need for engineers and technical workers
        A model of (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education
        An inter-district magnet school connecting New Haven, West Haven and surrounding towns.

WHY ESUMS?
        ENGINEERING SHORTAGE
o       U.S. industry needs more than one million engineers and technical workers.  U.S. middle and high schools can help supply them.
o       In order for the U.S. to remain competitive in the global marketplace, we need a constant supply of engineers.
o       Nearly ½ of the U.S.s engineers are nearing retirement; at the same time ½ of the students in college engineering programs drop out before college.
