The New Haven Educators' Collective will host a Community Conversation (with pizza) on October 15, 5 - 7:30 pm, at Fair Haven Public Library, 182 Grand Avenue.
"Education reform has kicked into high gear here in the Elm City, but many of the practices claiming to improve the New Haven Public Schools are hurting our children and our communities. There's the restructuring of Hillhouse without clear communication to students, families or staff; the attempted back-door deal giving money away to a charter management company; and the bloating of central office staff at the expense of small class sizes. We need a city that truly puts kids first! Come to an open forum to discuss the state of New Haven Public Education and join the fight to save it. Together we can create a vision for schools that is truly empowering."
